Démarche artistique

Born in 1982 in Belgium, Alexandra started drawing as soon as she could hold a pen. She entered the equestrian world when she was 13 and immediately became passionate. It was a real love at first sight with horses! She decided to learn horse riding while carrying on her artistic studies so that she could improve her drawing skills and realize portrayals of these noble animals she loved so much. After studying illustration in a renowned Institute of Arts in Brussels, where she created her first artistic equine photographs, she chose to travel around the world to live her passion for horses more deeply. Back in Europe after a one year trip around Australia, she joined the team of “Cavalia”, one of the biggest international horse show, as a professional horse rider. All along these experiences, she learnt different ways of communicating with horses, aiming to get as close of them as she could and never stopped trying to capture the essence of such sensitive animals through the lens of her camera, though the lines of her drawings. Either in abstract black and white pictures, or through color photographs expressing the liveliness and playfulness of horse, Alexandra shares with us her singular vision of this peculiar animal she took time to approach, tame and love. The close relationship she has grown with horses reflect in her pictures and invites the public to meet these. Her sensitive and intimate work make an impression as footprints in our minds…
